TULARE COUNTY, CA — A woman was killed Monday night in a head-on crash in Tulare County, near the intersection of Road 100 and Avenue 264, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Investigators say a white BMW traveling southbound unexpectedly drifted across the centerline and slammed head-on into a blue Jeep Compass heading in the opposite direction.
The Jeep’s driver, a 23-year-old woman, was rushed to Adventist Health, where she was later pronounced dead. A child who was riding in the Jeep was taken to Kaweah Health for precautionary evaluation and is expected to be okay.
The BMW driver suffered major injuries, including fractures in both legs, and remains hospitalized.
Authorities reported no signs of impairment, and the investigation continues as officers work to determine why the BMW crossed into oncoming traffic.
