
SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA — A multi-vehicle crash reported Thursday afternoon near Mather Airport left six people injured, including two children, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.
The collision occurred around 5:00 p.m. on Mather Boulevard near Arnold Way. Due to the number of victims, fire officials declared a mass-casualty incident response.
Emergency crews reported two individuals with moderate injuries and four with minor injuries. All six were transported to nearby hospitals for medical evaluation and treatment.
Aerial footage showed severe front-end damage to several vehicles and another with apparent rear-end impact. Mather Boulevard was fully blocked as firefighters and paramedics worked the scene.
The cause of the multi-vehicle crash in Mather remains under investigation. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is reviewing what may have led to the collision and whether any contributing factors were involved.
