LEMON GROVE, CA — One person died Wednesday morning following a two-car crash on SR-125 in Lemon Grove, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The crash happened shortly after 5:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes near the connector to State Route 94. While the cause remains under investigation, officials reported that one of the vehicles veered off the freeway and went down an embankment, where the occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second vehicle fled immediately after the crash, adding a potential hit-and-run factor to the case.
No additional injuries have been reported. The CHP continues to investigate what led to the collision and is working to identify the driver who left the scene.
