YUBA CITY, CA — A 94-year-old man remains hospitalized with serious injuries after his vehicle was struck by a semi-truck at a busy Yuba City intersection.
The truck crash occurred at Highway 99 and Highway 20, where—according to a witness—the driver of the Buick Verano was heading south on Hwy 99 and entered the intersection without stopping at a red light. As he attempted to turn left onto eastbound Hwy 20, he crossed into the path of a northbound semi-truck that had the green light.
The 35-year-old truck driver attempted to brake but was unable to avoid the collision. He was not injured.
Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing, but so far, there is no indication that speed, alcohol, or drugs played a role in the crash.
