Elias Arenas, a 25-year-old Escondido man, was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Lake Wohlford Road by Valley Casino while crossing the road on Thursday evening 10:50 p.m.
Arenas was walking east across the road when he was hit by a Chevrolet Equinox before the driver of the vehicle fled the scene. Arenas was then rushed to the hospital and was pronounced dead.
The SUV driver, 40-year-old Nolan Deskovick, was later arrested as in connection with the hit-and-run and was booked into Vista Jail on Friday 6:30 a.m.
Deskovick now faces a bail at $500,000 and a maximum sentence of eight years in prison.
