Los Angeles Fire Department crews responded to the crash and extricated two individuals from the heavily damaged sedan. One of the victims, a 30-year-old woman, was listed in critical condition. The condition of the child remains unknown.
Five people in total were transported to area hospitals. The LAPD officers involved escaped their vehicle after it caught fire at the scene.
The suspect initially pursued for DUI remains at large, police said. The LAPD has not released a description. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
