
A pedestrian died late Thursday after being struck by a vehicle on the 91 Freeway in Paramount, California, following an earlier incident involving a car fire.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said the collision happened around 10:25 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near the Cherry Avenue ramps. Emergency responders initially arrived on scene after reports of a vehicle fire. The driver of the burning vehicle had exited the car when they were struck by another vehicle.
The impact threw the individual into the westbound lanes, where they was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Both directions of the freeway experienced temporary closures during the response. The incident remains under investigation.
