Two teenagers were taken into custody after a pursuit of their stolen car ended in a collision near Tulare Avenue and Watson Street in Visalia early Monday morning.
At around 2:30 a.m., officers patrolling made an attempt to stop a vehicle speeding with headlights on. The driver failed to cooperate with police as they drove the later confirmed stolen vehicle through a cul-de-sac.
The vehicle then turned around to try and ram directly into a patrol car. The officer swerved to avoid the crash. The stolen vehicle continued to speed through the neighborhood until ultimately crashing into a chain-link fence at the local fire station.
The occupants, two teenagers ages 17 and 14 years old, tried to flee the scene but were quickly apprehended and arrested by officers in the area. They were taken to the hospital before being booked into a juvenile facility.
The 17-year-old driver was charged with felony evading police, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, conspiracy, vehicle theft, possession of burglary tools, and assault with a deadly weapon. The other teen was arrested on charges of vehicle theft, resisting arrest, possession of a concealed weapon, possession of a controlled substance and conspiracy.
