A woman was fatally struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident early Friday morning near the intersection of Towne Avenue and East Florence Avenue in South Los Angeles.
The fatal collision occurred around 12:30 a.m. Witnesses told authorities the woman was crossing the street when a car hit her and continued driving without stopping.
Responding officers arrived to find the pedestrian unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released, pending family notification.
No description of the suspect vehicle has been made public, and the driver remains at large. The Los Angeles Police Department has launched an investigation and is urging anyone with information to come forward.
