A driver was arrested and hospitalized Sunday evening following a crash that ended a police pursuit in Visalia.
CHP officers attempted to stop the vehicle near Highway 198, but the driver allegedly fled at high speed, according to the California Highway Patrol. The pursuit ended in a collision on Akers Street after the suspect lost control and crashed.
Emergency responders transported the driver to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries. No other vehicles or bystanders were reported injured during the incident.
Authorities have not released the suspect’s identity. Charges are pending as the investigation continues.
The CHP has not confirmed what prompted the initial traffic stop but said reckless driving was involved. The roadway was briefly shut down while crews cleared the scene and investigators gathered evidence.
