Ford Motor Company is recalling more than 1 million vehicles across the United States after widespread reports of rear-view camera malfunctions linked to a software defect.
The recall, posted in early May on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website, affects an estimated 1,075,299 vehicles. Impacted models span a wide range of Ford and Lincoln lines, including the F-150, F-Series Super Duty trucks (F-250 through F-600), Edge, Transit, Bronco, Expedition, Escape, Mustang, Ranger, and Mach-E, as well as Lincoln’s Navigator, MKX, and Corsair models.
According to the Safety Recall Report, drivers have reported issues with rear-view images freezing, delaying, or failing to appear altogether. The software glitch has also triggered unexpected system resets, which may interfere with the vehicle’s electronic functions and driver awareness.
Ford said affected owners will begin receiving notifications by mail advising them to visit an authorized Ford or Lincoln dealership to receive a software update, either in person or through an Over-the-Air update.
