An 11-year-old boy is in critical condition after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle in Bakersfield late Wednesday afternoon.
The collision occurred around 4:50 p.m. at the intersection of Owens Street and Quincy Street. According to investigators, the child was traveling east on a bicycle when he was hit by a silver sedan heading southbound.
The driver, a woman whose identity has not been released, remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.
The injured child was transported to a nearby hospital and remains in life-threatening condition, officials confirmed. No arrests have been made, and the incident remains under investigation.
