Four people were seriously injured Thursday evening after their vehicle veered off Blue Canyon Road in Placer County and caught fire.
The crash occurred around 4:45 p.m., when emergency crews responded to reports of a vehicle that had gone approximately 100 feet down an embankment. Upon arrival, officers found the car engulfed in flames, which had begun to spread to nearby vegetation and toward the edge of the freeway.
All four occupants of the vehicle were located and sustained injuries ranging from moderate to life-threatening. They were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Officials did not immediately release their identities.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no further details have been disclosed.
