The South Sacramento Police Department has recently introduced their 2024 Durango specially marked patrol vehicles with the goal of reducing reckless driving in California streets.
The CHP said that its new Primary Crash Factor Vehicles (PCFVs) are already making an impact — on the first day of testing, officers spotted a car speeding south on I-5 at 110 mph in a 65-mph zone. The officer driving the patrol vehicle conducted a traffic stop and issued a speeding citation.
Authorities from South Sacramento told local news outlets that the new fleet of PCFVs were boldly colored and featured improved CHP markings. They are now being deployed throughout the state.
Meanwhile, officers from Modesto emphasized the importance of blending in with regular drivers so they may easily spot and prevent aggressive drivers from endangering the lives of other people.
CHP reportedly plans to release a hundred of these patrol vehicles across California within the next month.
