A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle early Thursday morning along Main Street near Cataba Road.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the collision happened around 2:52 a.m., just east of the exit to a 76 gas station. Emergency crews with the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded quickly but pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released. Authorities have not confirmed the individual’s gender or whether they may have been a member of the local homeless community, though one nearby man—who identified himself as unhoused—told reporters the victim might have been a familiar pedestrian in the area.
The driver of the vehicle involved, a silver 2016 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ Limited, was identified as an adult female. She remained on the scene and fully cooperated with investigators. The car sustained damage to its front passenger side and came to a stop just west of the intersection.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station.
