Six passengers were killed and police are still searching for two after a boat capsized on Lake Tahoe waters. A tourist destination on the border of California and Nevada, it is the largest alpine lake in North America and has an estimated depth of 1,000 ft.
According to the Sheriff, the incident was reported at about 15:00 local time, with ten people aboard the boat as the lake became unexpectedly rough and unpredictable.
The US Coast Guard also reported that the 27-ft-long gold Chris-craft boat got caught in a large swell of waves when the winds picked up to 35mph.
Six unnamed people were found dead at the scene, two survivors were being treated in the hospital, and two were still missing and currently being searched by authorities. This is a developing story.
