A 12-year-old boy will most likely lose his hand and is currently in critical condition after setting off an illegal firework in Goshen Tulare County Monday evening.
At least five other kids were present during the lighting, all left severely traumatized by the explosion. The boy in particular was airlifted to the hospital, where he will have to undergo surgery and may lose his whole hand after losing most of it during the incident.
The circumstances of the accident, what led to it, or if there were any adults present is unclear. Sgt. Nicholson of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office expressed his disappointment and stated the consequences of allowing children to get hurt by such accidents.
Sgt. Nicholson explains that the adult may be charged with child endangerment. The investigation is ongoing.
