One person was killed Wednesday morning in a workplace accident involving heavy equipment at the Sunshine Canyon Landfill in Granada Hills.
The fatal incident happened when a piece of heavy machinery reportedly overturned while operating on-site. Emergency responders arrived shortly after the incident but were unable to save the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, and the precise circumstances leading to the machinery overturning remain under investigation.
Cal/OSHA and local authorities are reviewing the incident as part of a standard workplace fatality probe.
