A female passenger has been killed in a car-tree related accident that took place along the west shoulder of Interstate 80 in Penryn Road in Placer County Thursday night.
The incident occurred at about 7:30 p.m. when a male driver behind the wheel of a Toyota 4Runner lost control of his vehicle due to a damaged tire, making the SUV drive off-road and crash head-on into a tree.
The female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver was rushed to the hospital with major injuries.
It is also reported that the SUV held several dogs, who are now being taken care of by animal control.
