One person was killed and five others injured in a head-on crash near Ramona on Wednesday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at approximately 5:50 p.m. near the intersection of State Route 67 and Brantner Lane. Investigators said a southbound Lexus sedan crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a Ford SUV traveling northbound.
The driver of the Lexus, a 35-year-old man, died at the scene. All five occupants of the SUV were transported to local hospitals with injuries described as moderate or minor.
Authorities are still investigating what caused the Lexus to drift into the opposite lane, including whether impairment may have been a factor. CHP urged drivers to remain alert and avoid distractions to prevent similar incidents.
