A string of deadly collisions in San Jose this July has left three people dead, including victims in two separate hit-and-run incidents.
The first incident occurred on the night of July 10, when a 2004 Honda Accord rear-ended a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek stopped at a red light on Quimby Road. The impact pushed the Subaru into a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder. The Honda’s driver fled the scene on foot, leaving behind a critically injured passenger who later died at the hospital.
Another fatality tied to a hit-and-run was reported Tuesday. A pedestrian who was struck by a 2019 white Chevy Silverado while crossing Sunset Avenue on May 30 died from his injuries after nearly two months in the hospital. The suspected driver was arrested Wednesday and now faces vehicular manslaughter charges.
The third fatal crash took place early Sunday morning around 4:33 a.m. on the Capitol Expressway. A woman was struck by a 2024 black Mitsubishi Mirage. She was taken to a hospital, where she later died. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
Authorities have not yet released the names of any of the victims or drivers.
