Two people were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries following a head-on crash Monday morning near the intersection of La Mesa Road and Del Gado Road.
The collision occurred around 7:15 a.m. and involved a white Chevrolet Traverse and a black Chevy Tahoe. Preliminary reports indicate the Tahoe was traveling westbound when it struck a curb, veered into eastbound lanes, and collided head-on with the Traverse.
Both vehicles sustained extensive front-end damage.
The 55-year-old woman driving the Traverse was trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated by emergency responders. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. The male driver of the Tahoe suffered a severe head injury and was airlifted for emergency medical treatment.
The exact circumstances leading up to the crash are still being investigated.
