Four people were killed early Sunday in a fiery crash on the 605 Freeway in Southern California, and a suspected DUI driver has been arrested.
The incident occurred around 1 a.m. when a group of friends traveling home from a concert crashed their Nissan sedan into a California Highway Patrol vehicle, which had been left disabled in a freeway lane, officials said. Moments later, an oncoming Kia sedan slammed into the rear of the Nissan, igniting the vehicle in flames and trapping the four occupants inside.
All four victims were pronounced dead at the scene. They were identified as 24-year-old Julie Harmori, her boyfriend Armando Del Campo, Jordan Partridge, and Sam Skocili.
The driver of the Kia, 26-year-old Iris Salmeron, and her passenger were hospitalized with major injuries. Salmeron was later arrested on multiple felony charges, including suspicion of driving under the influence.
Family members of the victims have launched a GoFundMe campaign to support funeral expenses and honor the lives lost in the tragedy.
