Two people were seriously injured Thursday afternoon after their vehicle veered off a hillside and crashed into a ravine near Los Flores Ranch Road and Summit Valley Road.
The incident occurred around 4:43 p.m. and was initially reported via an iPhone crash alert system, prompting emergency crews to respond to the remote area.
First responders located the vehicle approximately one mile off the main road, where it had landed after leaving the roadway under unknown circumstances. Authorities believe the vehicle may have been traveling off-road prior to the crash.
Both occupants were conscious at the scene and had sustained major injuries. Officials said the pair were able to attempt walking toward the road to seek help.
Local volunteers who came across the crash site assisted in recovering the vehicle, successfully towing it from the ravine.
