The application Tea, a dating safety platform designed to help women look out for “red-flag men” and catch cheaters, has been hacked this week after going viral on Apple’s App Store, exposing an estimated 72,000 user-submitted images.
The developers announced that they had discovered that someone had unauthorized access to an archived data system in a social media post on Friday. Said data system consisted of the 72k photos leaked including comments and direct messages from over two years ago.
According to Tea’s company, this data system was in place in compliance with cyberbullying prevention standards.
Developers of the app are currently working to resolve the issue and improve user-security moving forward, assuring users that the data of users who signed up for Tea after February 2024 remains private and secure.
