A deadly crash involving a big rig and a sedan shut down part of Interstate 5 south of Elk Grove early Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision happened just before 5 a.m. near Twin Cities Road as heavy rain moved through the area.
Authorities confirmed that the driver of the sedan was killed. The #1 lane was closed for several hours, impacting the morning commute. Officials continue to investigate the cause of the big rig crash on I-5.
