SAN DIEGO, CA (October 20, 2024) – A collision involving a suspected DUI driver and a San Diego police vehicle resulted in four people, including two police officers, being transported to the hospital on Saturday afternoon.
The crash happened at the intersection of Midway Drive and Barnett Avenue around 12:16 p.m.
San Diego Police Department reports indicate that the police vehicle was operating under Code 3, with lights and sirens activated, and was clearing the intersection when it was struck by a southbound 2024 Honda Accord.
The 27-year-old female driver of the Honda sustained a femur fracture, while her passenger suffered an orbital fracture. The officers involved received treatment for minor cuts and abrasions.
DUI is being considered a significant factor in the incident. The conditions of the individuals involved have not yet been disclosed, and the area was closed for several hours to facilitate an ongoing investigation.
