LOS ANGELES, CA (November 11, 2024) – A fiery crash in the Adams-Normandie neighborhood heavily damaged a local church just hours before its scheduled Sunday service.
The South LA church crash occurred at approximately 2:49 a.m. at the First AME Zion Church on West Adams Boulevard, involving multiple vehicles, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Responding firefighters discovered a red sedan flipped onto its side and engulfed in flames on the sidewalk adjacent to the church.
Video footage from the scene shows crews working to extinguish the blaze as the car remained on the sidewalk. The red sedan had collided with several parked vehicles outside the church, including a pickup truck, a white sedan, and a Jeep.
Ezra T. Maize, the pastor of First AME Zion Church, described the damage to the structure as “extensive,” and noted that a massive cleanup effort is still underway.
