LOS ANGELES, CA (October 21, 2024) – Authorities are intensifying their search for the hit-and-run driver responsible for the death of a war hero and lawyer on the 91 Freeway.
Daniel Duffield, celebrated for his service as a U.S. Navy sonar technician and his legal work post-9/11, was tragically killed in an incident captured on newly released dashcam footage. The video shows a white Chevy Silverado colliding with the victim’s motorcycle near Gypsum Canyon Road, then driving over the wreckage and fleeing the scene.
The California Highway Patrol is seeking a white Chevrolet Silverado with noticeable damage on the right front, including potential dents to the front door, quarter panel, or side mirror. The family of the victim, remembering his life and legacy, expressed their grief and determination for justice.
Dennis Duffield, the victim’s brother, mourned the loss, stating, “He had so much life left to live and he was robbed of it. And then he passed away right there, on the road like a dog because this person left him to die.”
Authorities urge anyone with information about the hit-and-run on the 91 Freeway to come forward. Meanwhile, Dennis warned the unknown driver, “You will be held accountable for this one way or another, whether it’s God, whether it’s serendipity or whether you decide to own it and be a man about it.”
