FRESNO, CA (October 18, 2024) – Two women were killed late Wednesday night when an SUV involved in a police pursuit crashed into their Fresno home. The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Cedar and Nevada Avenues.
The Fresno Police Department reported that the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium (MAGEC) was pursuing the SUV when the driver, identified as 18-year-old Adam Canales of Fresno, lost control and collided with the house. Mang Yang, 25, and Eliza Yang, 18, were tragically killed in their sleep as the vehicle plowed through their bedroom.
An uncle of the victims told local news that eight people reside in the home affected by the crash. Canales was subsequently arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of evading police, vehicular manslaughter, and an infraction for driving with alcohol in his system while under 21.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to cover the funeral expenses for the Yangs. Additionally, friends and family are planning to hold a candlelight vigil at the home, located at 4211 East Ball Avenue, Thursday night at 7 p.m.
