Oakland Bus Crash Leaves 16 Injured, Two Critical [Oakland, CA]

OAKLAND, CA (March 10, 2024) — A traffic accident occurred in East Oakland on Friday, involving an AC Transit Bus and two other vehicles, leaving 16 individuals injured, two critically. 

The sequence of events began when a Chrysler 300 sedan, moving southbound on International Boulevard, collided with a Toyota Prius attempting a left turn onto 54th Avenue. The force of the impact sent the Chrysler careening over a raised center median and into the path of an oncoming northbound bus on the 1T Tempo line. 

Among those injured, 10 required hospitalization, with nine reporting pain. 

The Oakland bus crash, which actually involved a total of three vehicles, prompted a significant emergency response, highlighting the risks of vehicular traffic in densely populated areas. As the community grapples with the aftermath, the focus turns to road safety measures to prevent future tragedies.
