One Dead in South El Monte Commercial Building Fire [South El Monte, CA]
SOUTH EL MONTE, CA (May 28, 2024) — One person was found dead after a commercial building in South El Monte went up in flames late Sunday night.
The fire was reported at 11:25 p.m. in the 10100 block of Rush Street, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACOFD).
When firefighters arrived, the building was fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters waged a defensive battle, positioning hoses outside the structure to douse the flames and protect nearby buildings.
Firefighters discovered the body shortly before 2 a.m. after controlling the fire and entering the building. The cause of the South El Monte commercial building fire is under investigation.
