Ontario City Council Member Arrested for DUI and Hit-and-Run

ONTARIO, CA (July 12, 2024) — Jim Bowman, a long-serving member of the Ontario City Council, was arrested this week on charges of driving under the influence and fleeing the scene of an accident. The incident occurred around 5:05 p.m. on Monday at the intersection of Euclid Avenue and Mission Boulevard.
According to the Ontario Police Department, witnesses reported a collision involving two vehicles, after which one driver, later identified as Bowman, left the scene. Police were contacted shortly thereafter by Bowman, who was located near Locust Street and Laurel Avenue.
An Ontario Traffic Investigator conducted a detailed investigation at the scene, which led to Bowman’s arrest. Following his arrest, he was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. The other driver involved in the accident sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received medical treatment.
The Jim Bowman DUI case has since been forwarded to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office for further review. Bowman, who has served on the Ontario City Council intermittently since 1986 and was a former fire chief in Upland, is currently serving a term that will end in December 2026.
