Pedestrian Killed in Downtown San Jose After Being Run Over

SAN JOSE, CA (August 2, 2024) — San Jose police reported a fatal pedestrian accident near the downtown district early Sunday morning.
The incident happened near 11th and William streets. The San Jose Police Department responded to a call at 6:18 a.m. regarding a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
According to the police, a 2019 white Toyota Highlander, driven by an adult male, was exiting an apartment complex driveway at a slow speed heading northbound on South 11th Street, a one-way stretch. The SUV drove over an adult male pedestrian who was lying in the roadway.
The victim was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office. The driver remained at the scene of the San Jose pedestrian crash.
