San Francisco Tow Company Faces Investigation After Viral Incident [San Francisco, CA]

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (April 14, 2024) — San Francisco’s Specialty Towing is under investigation after a viral video showed one of its trucks attempting to hook a moving vehicle with passengers at a red light. 

The City Attorney, David Chiu, reportedly stated that the company had previously been suspended from city contracts for violating state laws, and this recent incident might involve criminal activities. Chiu highlighted the company’s pattern of illegal behavior, including towing without property owner consent and demanding cash-only payments.

The video in question shows the tow truck backing up towards Joanne and her husband’s car as they waited at a light, attempting to latch onto their vehicle. This alarming action prompted an immediate police response, and the city attorney reiterated the company’s history of similar complaints.

San Francisco Police are now calling for other victims to report any similar experiences in the Specialty Towing case. The city has already severed ties with Specialty Towing and its affiliates for parking enforcement due to their practices.
