Shipyard Accident Kills Longtime NASSCO Worker in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 14, 2024) — A worker at General Dynamic’s National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) in San Diego died on Monday after being struck by a falling object at the shipyard. The accident occurred around 12:15 p.m. at the NASSCO facility on Harbor Drive, according to Harbor Police.
The victim, identified as JC Adame, was a veteran pipefitter working at ground level when the object fell, resulting in fatal injuries. Emergency responders were called to the scene, but Adame was pronounced dead shortly after the incident. The exact cause of the NASSCO shipyard accident is still under investigation.
