SUV Flips into Oncoming Traffic Ending Police Chase in Orange County
SANTA ANA, CA (April 12, 2024) — A high-speed police pursuit ended dramatically in Orange County when an SUV, driven by a parolee, flipped into oncoming traffic. The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon after Santa Ana Police Department’s Gang Unit initiated a chase due to a traffic violation around 5:10 p.m., according to SAPD Public Information Officer Natalie Garcia.
Captured on video, the SUV was seen making a high-speed right turn at a busy intersection, fishtailing, and then flipping over the median into the opposite lane, colliding with at least one other vehicle. Police officers quickly surrounded the overturned vehicle, guns drawn, to apprehend the suspect.
The Orange County police chase lasted just six minutes over a span of one and a half miles before the crash brought it to a halt. The driver was extracted from the SUV and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries before being booked on pursuit and drug-related charges.
