Three-Car Crash in Madera County Claims Life of 11-Year-Old Girl
MADERA, CA (May 6, 2024) — A devastating collision involving three vehicles resulted in the death of an 11-year-old girl in Madera County, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The incident occurred on Highway 41 at Jewels Vista Court shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The crash happened when the driver of a GMC Yukon, traveling southbound on Highway 41 during rainy conditions, lost control of the vehicle. In an attempt to regain control, the driver overcorrected, sending the Yukon sideways into the northbound lane where it was struck on the right side by a Chevy Silverado driving north.
Compounding the chaos, a Buick traveling south was unable to avoid the accident, colliding with the Silverado. Tragically, an 11-year-old girl in the GMC succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
In addition to the fatality, two occupants of the GMC sustained moderate injuries, while two others suffered major injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for urgent care. The driver of the Silverado and a passenger in the Buick also sustained minor injuries.
Highway 41 was temporarily closed but has since been reopened. The CHP is conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Madera County crash.
