Three Teens Among Four Killed in San Bernardino Chase Crash

SAN BERNARDINO, CA (July 2, 2024) — Three of the four suspects killed in a high-speed pursuit crash in San Bernardino County have been identified as teenagers, authorities confirmed.
The June 28 chase began around 1:45 a.m. in Rancho Cucamonga when deputies attempted to stop a suspected DUI driver. The driver of a black 2018 Hyundai fled, leading to a pursuit.
The Ontario Police Department’s Aviation Unit assisted in tracking the vehicle. Approximately six minutes later, the Hyundai collided with a 2010 Ford Mustang at the intersection of Mountain Avenue and 16th Street in Upland, then struck a pole, splitting into three parts and catching fire.
Four of the Hyundai’s five occupants were killed: 16-year-old Fontana residents Jesus Guillen Jr. and Joel Jeremiah Silva, and 17-year-old Pomona resident Michael Adrian Gomez. A 13-year-old boy survived and was hospitalized. The Mustang’s occupants, a 35-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman from Ontario, were also hospitalized as a precaution.
The Hyundai was reported stolen from Fontana, and a loaded firearm was found on one of the deceased suspects. Multiple investigations into the San Bernardino chase crash are ongoing.
