Tragic Multi-Car Crash Near Modesto Claims Four Lives
MODESTO, CA (April 11, 2024) — A catastrophic incident on McHenry Avenue just north of Modesto resulted in the deaths of four people, including two residents from Merced, on Tuesday afternoon. The accident occurred around 4 p.m. near the intersection with Hogue Road.
California Highway Patrol reports indicate that a 19-year-old woman from Merced was driving a Mitsubishi northbound when she inexplicably crossed into the southbound lane, causing a head-on collision with a Toyota. The Mitsubishi also impacted two other vehicles involved in the incident.
Tragically, both the young driver and her 22-year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, a 60-year-old woman driving the Toyota and her one-year-old passenger succumbed to their injuries after being rushed to local hospitals.
The investigation into whether substances like drugs or alcohol were contributing factors is ongoing. No other injuries have been reported in connection with this devastating car crash near Modesto.
