Tulare Wrong-Way Collision Claims Life of Young Man

TULARE, CA (April 27, 2024) — A devastating accident occurred in Tulare County when a wrong-way driver collided with another vehicle on Highway 99, resulting in the death of a 21-year-old man.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash happened near Betty Drive early Wednesday morning around 3:10 a.m.
The wrong-way driver, identified as 20-year-old Saul Saldana Armenta from Fresno, was reportedly driving a 2015 Dodge Charger southbound in the northbound lanes. He collided with a 2022 Honda Civic driven by Lisandro Santos, a 21-year-old from Porterville who tragically died from his injuries just days before his 22nd birthday.
Authorities suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash, and Armenta has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. The investigation into the Tulare wrong-way collision is ongoing.
