Two Killed in Cessna Aircraft Crash Near Kneeland Airport
HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA (July 25, 2024) — A Cessna 206 Stationair aircraft crashed near Kneeland Airport in Humboldt County, California, at approximately 11:04 AM PST on July 23. The plane, which departed from the CAL FIRE base in Sacramento at 9:49 AM, was carrying two CAL FIRE contractors from Ammentum Aviation, a company providing pilot and maintenance services.
Both crew members on board were confirmed dead. “Our hearts go out to the families of those employees and to the Ammentum Aviation family,” said a CAL FIRE public information officer in a statement to AerialFire.
CAL FIRE crews responded to extinguish a fire that spread to nearby land following the Cessna aircraft crash. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the cause of the accident.
