12-Year-Old Boy on Scooter Fatally Struck by Truck in South San Jose

SAN JOSE, CA (August 7, 2024) — A 12-year-old boy riding a scooter was struck and killed by a driver in South San Jose on Tuesday, police reported.
The incident happened just before 4:30 p.m. on Camden Avenue near the Cambrian Park neighborhood. According to authorities, the boy was hit near a crosswalk by a 2006 Chevy pickup truck traveling westbound on Camden Avenue with a green light. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police released the victim’s age on Wednesday but have not disclosed his identity. The driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
The westbound lanes of Camden Avenue between Leigh and Charmeran avenues were closed for several hours Tuesday evening as police conducted their investigation into this San Jose scooter accident.
