17 Students Injured in Stanislaus County School Bus Crash

STANISLAUS COUNTY, CA (October 15, 2024) — Early Tuesday morning, a school bus carrying 17 elementary-aged students was rear-ended by a big rig in Stanislaus County, resulting in injuries for all the children involved. The incident occurred just before 7 a.m. on Crows Landing Road, north of El Katrina Lane, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The school bus was stopped with its flashing red lights and stop sign activated, with a Honda sedan halted behind it. The big rig driver, reportedly failing to notice the stopped vehicles, collided with the rear of the sedan before impacting the school bus. While the students did not require hospitalization, both the big rig driver and the sedan driver sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.
The CHP is currently investigating the Stanislaus County school bus crash, and it remains unclear what charges, if any, may be filed against the big rig driver.
