23-Year-Old Man Killed in Fatal Crash on Freedom Boulevard

SANTA CRUZ, CA (August 17, 2024) — A two-vehicle crash on Freedom Boulevard resulted in the death of one person on Saturday morning. The collision reportedly happened around 7:35 a.m. east of McDonald Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash involved a red 2017 Honda CRV and a 1966 Chrysler Newport. The circumstances leading to the head-on collision are currently under investigation.
The driver of the Chrysler, a 23-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts. The 49-year-old driver of the Honda sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Investigators have not yet determined if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash on Freedom Boulevard. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office once next of kin have been notified.
