SILVER LAKE, CA (August 27, 2024) — A multi-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning caused the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway in Silver Lake to be closed for about two hours.
The incident reportedly began just before 2:30 a.m. when a single vehicle crashed into the center divider, scattering debris across the freeway near Fletcher Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Several other vehicles subsequently collided as drivers attempted to avoid the debris. Video footage of the crash in Silver Lake shows one car ending up on its side and sliding several feet after hitting another vehicle. The road was eventually cleared, and lanes were reopened around 4:30 a.m.
