63-Year-Old Driver Killed in SR-78 Ramona Head-On Crash

RAMONA, CA (July 5, 2024) — A fatal head-on collision in Ramona resulted in the death of a 63-year-old driver on Wednesday afternoon.
The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on State Route 78 near Salmon Road. According to Officer Jared Grieshaber of the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a Chevrolet S-10 driven by a Ramona resident was traveling westbound when the driver lost control for unknown reasons. The vehicle reportedly veered into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with an Isuzu box truck driven by a 46-year-old El Cajon resident.
The impact was severe, and the driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Isuzu box truck was unharmed, and both drivers were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles.
