74-Year-Old Woman Killed in Wildomar Rollover Crash
WILDOMAR, CA (July 2, 2024) — A 74-year-old woman from Mexico, Maria Martinez Lomeli, was killed in a violent rollover crash on I-15 in Wildomar over the weekend.
The crash occurred around 1:50 p.m. on Sunday in the southbound lanes near Diamond Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Lomeli was in the rear passenger seat of a 2004 Kia Sorento when the driver, a 71-year-old man from Compton, lost control of the vehicle.
The car veered into the center divider, overturned, and ejected Lomeli, who was not wearing a seatbelt. The vehicle eventually came to rest on its wheels near the divider.
Riverside County Fire Department paramedics arrived to find Lomeli in grave condition. She
was taken to a nearby hospital where she died shortly after. The driver and another passenger, a 66-year-old Compton woman, were also taken to the hospital with major injuries and are in stable condition. CHP investigators are still investigating the Wildomar rollover crash.
