8 Injured, Including 4 Children, in Catastrophic Sylmar Multi-Vehicle Crash [Sylmar, CA]
SYLMAR, CA (May 24, 2024) — Eight people were injured, two seriously, in a multi-vehicle crash in Sylmar on Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened just before 3 p.m. in the 14900 block of West Hubbard Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD). Aerial footage from Sky5 showed at least four vehicles with significant damage, including one flipped onto its roof.
Initially, fire officials reported nine injuries from the Sylmar car crash, but this was later revised to eight, with two individuals declining transport to hospitals. Of the six transported, two adults were in serious condition, and four children, aged 6 to 12, sustained minor injuries.
LAFD noted that the use of seatbelts prevented more severe injuries, although some children were improperly restrained, with no car seats and some sharing seat belts. Fortunately, none of the passengers were ejected from the vehicles.
