Chico Woman Killed in Multi-Vehicle Accident in Tehama County
TEHAMA COUNTY, CA (October 16, 2024) — A tragic collision on SR-99 in Tehama County resulted in the death of a 22-year-old woman from Chico on Tuesday afternoon. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident occurred around 1:48 p.m. when Andre Tucker, 43, of Chico, driving a 1997 Ford Expedition at a high rate of speed, lost control and crossed into the opposing lane.
Tucker’s vehicle first collided with a 2015 Honda Accord driven by Mirna Rodriguez, 56, of Gerber, before crashing head-on into a 2012 Toyota Prius. The young woman driving the Prius was pronounced dead at the scene. Rodriguez sustained minor injuries and was treated at Enloe Medical Center.
Following the accident in Tehama County, Tucker was arrested and taken to Enloe Medical Center for medical clearance before being booked into Tehama County Jail. The specific reasons for his arrest have not been disclosed by the CHP, but alcohol and drugs are suspected to be factors in the crash. The section of SR-99 where the crash occurred was closed until 4:40 p.m.
